It was a little blip of an article in one of the Pediatric News throw-aways where this dermatologist reported his findings using the injection of 0.1 cc of the PPD antigen under the wart and perhaps repeating it in 4-6 weeks. The theory is that it works by modifying the immune response at the site. The kids that I've used it on have been on everything including Tagamet. I tell the parents that my treatment is based on one small article without a lot of documentation but that I feel it is a safe treatment trial. Of course, I would not want to do it on someone with a previous positive PPD for fear of sluffing skin off.
