I'm not up on the latest technology, but about 10 years ago I worked in a newborn nursery where we used a TCB (transcutaneous bili meter) for screening of all newborns at time of discharge. We had a protocol that if the TCB was greater than 16 we did a lab bili. I don't remember the brand name, but at that time they did not recommend using it to manage babies who were receiving phototherapy treatment. Kris McHarg, PNP
