Re: Japanese baby

I had the opposite situation, Caucasian family, both young first time
parents. Baby looked so abnormal to me and quite a few nurses too.
Very slanted almond eyes, tongue protruding, ears sort of low set and
pinky fingers turned somewhat. I was about 80% sure she was Down's.
Went in and looked at the parents and neither of them looked like her
really AND I found out that mom had a scare because her AFP had been
low but repeated as WNL. So I made the speech, did the test, had
them in tears and scared out of their minds. A week later the test
was neg. Parents were relieved but a bit miffed at me putting them
through it. I felt so bad, I was so sure that she was going to be
Down's. Now at 6 months she looks NOTHING like how she did before
and has not the slightest Down's features. Oh well, I had to, I
would have felt worse telling them after 4 months that she had Down's
but I didn't have the guts to diagnose it .
