Along this line, what ICD9 dx do you use for when they bring the child in to have the cord cauterized with silver nitrate after 4-6 weeks if it is not off yet? I keep wanting to use the code for Umbilical discharge but that doesn't quite fit right as many times it is not with discharge. Is there a code for "delayed cord separation" or umbilical granuloma?
