Dan Nussbaum asks, Which Willie Horton did you mean and what is a "senior?" My apologies for a succinct but cryptic style. I was referring to the role played in George Bush, Senior's campaign by the story about a black (his race was dramatically featured in an avalanche of campaign propaganda) convict named Willy Horton who, upon release by the Mass. Parole Board, raped a woman. Ducaucus (how do you spell his name and what happened to him?) was targeted as soft on crime and the message was a very racist attempt to exploit and instill fear of blacks in the population. This very successful spin was widely claimed to have been responsible for the election victory that year. As an aside it was reported recently (sorry no reference) that when asked to identify Willie Horton in a survey many people said he was "a Republican Politician." There, I hope that helps. herb
