RE: car seat problem

I agree with ignoring it - just making sure that the child isn't a little Houdini who is capable of unbuckling the car seat harness straps!!

Another thing that could be tried temporarily (if the child is large enough) is to put the child in a 30-pound certified high-back booster and use the car's shoulder/lap belt to secure her. Then she won't have anything to rub against. The problem with this is that a booster seat is not as safe as a five-point harness restraint (especially for a three-year old who is less likely to sit in a booster properly). But if used briefly it could get the child out of thinking of the car seat as a place to be "obsessed".

I don't have any specific recommendations, except to ignore it. This is
actually a common way for little kids to masturbate. What's the harm?

A mother posed a question today which just stumped me
(not the first time or likely the last, lol). Her 3
yo has discovered masturbation and we have discussed
this in the recent past. Unfortunately, she has taken
to masturbating in the car seat everytime she is in
the car - up against the harness of the car seat
(Britax model) - the mother describes the child as
being "obsessed" while she's in the car. Any
suggestions at all that wouldn't compromise car
  safety?? TIA ~
