RE: Diaper rash ointment

I also like Balmex and PinkSav (which is another zinc oxide preparation - don't know if it's national or only here in northeastern Ohio, though).  I also tell parents to air dry as much as possible, discontinue wipes, keep diaper off 10-15 minutes after baby just voided (keeping boys face down - haha), frequent changes, etc.
I like A&D or Desitin for prevention, but once a diaper rash occurs, Desitin is too hard to scrub off of irritated skin IMHO.         -Diane

Balmex.  It's great.  When I joined this practice (16 years ago), I had never
heard of it.  From hearing the nurses talk to parents about it, I thought
they must have stock in the company!  I started using it, and have not
recommended Desitin since then.
