I think I'm just going to code this visit as a regular well visit because my thought processes were not very complex-- the conversation went something like this: Me: "He still has a bit of ptosis. When do you see Dr. Eye again? Mom: "I was supposed to see him last month but had to cancel and I really have to call again." Me: "Yes- I really want him to see him. How often are you patching the eye." Mom: "It's supposed to be five hrs a day but he got a heat rash from the patch so I haven't been." Me: "Well his skin is clear now and patching is really important. Why don't you try again." Me: How many hrs a day is he wearing his cranial banding helmet? When does he see Dr. Cranial again?" and so on and so on... I'll have to admit that this gathering of information was more for my edification- it's hard to keep up with this type of child and my R.N. has a much better grasp on subspecialty visits because she spends a lot of time on the phone getting insurance referrals to subspecialists. Which opens up another can of worms for a different E-mail... Kim Burlingham, MD
