Just a reminder to everyone off to vacation.... __________________________________________________________________________ **PLEASE SAVE THIS MESSAGE!** It contains information about how to unsubscribe from PedTalk. Information which, undoubtably, many people will forget! :-) Also, please, please, please read all of the information below. It will save you oodles of time when you have a question about PedTalk. vvv WELCOME vvv Welcome to PedTalk! PedTalk is a mailing list for general Pediatric discussions. Any topic related to Pediatrics is appropriate including, but not at all limited to, managed care, CPT coding, running a practice, technological resources, and, of course, clinical discussions. PedTalk is *not* designed for personal medical advice or for seeking medical information on a particular patient. General clinical discussions are encouraged, however. PedTalk is presently open to anyone and everyone who would like to talk about Pediatric related issues. This is *not* a list for professionals only (that's coming!). There are dozens of other Pediatric-specific mailing lists, to which discussions may be directed. For a good overview of of these lists, please check the PEDINFO WWW Site (http://W3.LHL.UAB.EDU/pedinfo/). In order to write a message to everybody on the PedTalk list, just send email to "". For more information about PedTalk, send a message to "" with the word "help" in the body of your message, or check out http://www.pcc.com/lists/ ^^^ WELCOME ^^^ vvv SUBSCRIBING vvv To subscribe to PedTalk, simply send a message to "" with the phrase "subscribe" in the body of the message. ^^^ SUBSCRIBING ^^^ vvv UNSUBSCRIBING vvv To unsubscribe to PedTalk, simply send a message to "" with the phrase "unsubscribe" in the body of the message. DO NOT send unsubscribe messages to "". If you have difficulty unsubscribing, send email to "". ^^^ UNSUBSCRIBING ^^^ vvv PedTalk RULES AND REGS vvv Like all mailing lists, PedTalk expects all of its guests to follow the common rules of netiquette. Instances of "bad behavior" -- defined loosely as rude or insulting posts, advertising, or excessive non-topical posting -- will be given a single warning. A second instance will lead to automatic expulsion from the list. SPAMers get no warnings at all. **COMMERCIAL SOLICITATION IS NOT ALLOWED** on the PedTalk mailing list. Announcements of, say, relevant WWW pages, pointers to off-PedTalk information, or clarifications of factual issues are tolerated, but requested to be kept to a minimum. Of course, discussions of commercial interests among people not representing those interests are encouraged. PedTalk is no longer designed to be a private list. However, only members of PedTalk should post to the group and only members of PedTalk can see who other members are. As such, forwarding PedTalk messages to non-PedTalk members is not allowed without the expressed permission of the original author. Please follow this rule, as it *always* upsets people when you don't! All PedTalk messages are archived, however, and can be located by following links from "http://www.pcc.com/lists". IMPORTANT NOTE: **PedTalk is not intended to provide individual clinical advice, particularly to non-medical professionals**. Specifically, we wish to avoid messages like, "I've just been diagnosed with XXXXX - what do I do?" or "Please help save this child in YYYYY..." While those are important questions and issues, PedTalk is not an appropriate forum for 'em. Requests of this nature will lead to immediate exclusion from the list. Let's include this lovely disclaimer: "This discussion is not intended as and should not be construed as a consultancy nor as advice on a particular patient or patient care. It is a forum for the dissemination and development of general medical knowledge. Please do not rely on these comments to make specific patient care decisions, and do not include printed versions of these comments in any patient's medical record." If you do not understand why this limit is being placed on the list, please send mail to "" to discuss the issue; DO NOT send messages to the list. When you read an email message from somebody who wrote to the PedTalk list, doing the usual "Reply" to the message will send your reply directly to that person. If you want to reply to everyone on the list, you will have to use the Group reply command. ^^^ PedTalk RULES AND REGS ^^^ LAST, BUT NOT LEAST: If you have questions or concerns about the list itself, send email to "".
