I worry much more about a child with a temp of 100 and is listles than for a kid with a temp of 103 and ripping the room apart. I would be much more likely to give an antipyretic to the lower temp and let the other ride. Nor do I think it is a good idea to wake a sleeping child for medicine! I personally think that it is a good idea to lean a little towards the natural side of healing--with prudence of course. Our society relfexifly (sp) reaches (or expects) a pill (or shot of Rocephin) for every problem. By educating a parent of a febrile illness, I hope we can decrease some of the overmedication of our children. Maureen McLellan CPNP
