boring vs non-boring days

Sometimes the most exiting thing that happens during the day is that all
the well kids are well and nobody has anything bad or the really great days
are when I know exactly what everybody has and besides that know how to
make them better; then there are days like today......you know them - none
of the well checkups are healthy except for the one that was an hour
late...nobody is getting better on what you recommended and all the sick
kids are really sick.... Joey's ear recheck shows a healthy ear but mom
says "We've gotten a divorce and I think my ex-husband is sexually abusing
the children.."...the next kid has a huge ranula and the next is huffing
and puffing with a resp. rate in the 60s and retractions and then a 5 month
old new patient who was given a short appointment for a sick visit because
the mom said he had been seen before and he has the same name as another
patient (Dakota is a very popular name for baby boys on east Texas) so the
wrong chart was pulled has a huge murmur with a big liver.... should I go
on? Please tell me you have these days also. Thanks Kim Burlingham, MD
