When I was in school (several years ago) we asked the Karo syrup co. and they said it didnt make any difference. i just ask the parents to buy a new bottle--not to use the one they bought 5 years ago to make popcorn balls with! Seems to me about 5 years ago there was some thought that there could possibly be botulism spores in Karo as there can be with honey, That is when the group I was with at the time decided to go with apricot nectar.
