Dr. Burlingham--Your bad days sound pretty bad!! I have "bad days" too, but
they generally always revolve around something like a mother just moved here
from Puerto Rico with a 3 year old who has frequent nosebleeds, an 8 year old
who was way behind in school before they moved and also has asthma(no they
didn't bring any of his asthma stuff with them to the US) and a 9 year old
who was diagnosed with hypoglycemia 3 years ago who hates cheese, meat,
peanut butter, eggs and yogurt and will only eat corn. (And how long will
this take because my brother-in-law is waiting in the car for us?) None of
the boys speak English, by the way. Followed by a teenager who has been
having dizzy and shaking spells at school, feels tired all the time,
practices with her drum and bugle corp 6 hours a day, is worried about her
weight, eats no breakfast, lunch and very little for supper. Followed by a
17 year old young lady from Mexico, here without a "green card", who had
brain surgery 4 years ago and is now complaining of headaches and numbness
around the eyes but is most worried about a chalazion on her eyelid--she has
no way to pay for any medical care (I run a free clinic)....these things
always seem to come up in a FULL waiting room.:-)...Trudi Scott, CPNP
