To reply to the group, use "" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ we advise non-breast fed babies to BEGIN solids starting at 4-5 months, together with an iron supplement. this is mainly for learning and socialization purposes; and therefore to take it slow and non-pressured. breast fed babies are advised to wait until 6 mos. most of my moms are back at work when the baby is 3-4 months, so the pressure is on then, but i try to make them wait. we don't advise giving cereals, unless to thicken up formula for babies who are eating too much. as for juices- we try weaning the babies off the bottle and on to cups as soon as he is able (except for water) for dental reasons. juice is advised only as a follow-up after meals or with iron supp. juices and sweetened herbal tea mixes i find to really mess up their eating schedules. i have found quite a few so called ftt babies who are given freely these sweetened drinks, and are then not interested in eating their wholesome diets. gerri ------------------------------------- Name: Gerri Shames, R.N.
