30 years of experience:

4 prunes in 2 ounces of boiling water. Give between a half ounce to two ounces once or twice a day, it will take care of all the constipated infants.

I use it for older kids, and occasionally for older infants--over 6 months.
I usually advise 4 to 6 ounces per day. Karo syrup works well for
infants--I use it for any age--the light doesn't work, only the dark one.
The way it was explained to me is that the light is more refined, thus
removing a lot of the non-absorbable carbohydrate which is what makes it
work.
