In clinical trials, the kids who got the vaccine got sicker than the kids who didn't. It was probably due to the fact that the bulk of clinical symptoms are due to immune response and not the infection itself. Either way, that vaccine didn't quite make it. As a general rule, it seems to me that the AAP should love anything that decreases the amount of illness in children. Andrew M.
