In these kids I insure that other measures... counseling, parenting approp with consistant discipline, etc. are in place. I usu try ritalin first as it has the longest track record in young children, but we often need to move on to clonadine, immipramine or occl poly pharm. If the psychologist sent such a young kid, I assume that the above criteria are probably met. If you don't feel comfortable, consider peds psych or peds neurol consult. I second the consideration of sensory integration disorder. Many of those kids look like and are ADHD, but their symptoms lofelong can be ameliorated by GOOD S.I. therapy when young... the younger, the better. Find a good OT with training and good understanding of S.I. . If there is no one localy, I order SI pamphlets and edfucational tapes from AVANTI educational Programs (303)782-5117 - they may be able to recomend a good OT near you. good luck grace > -----Original Message----- > From: TANCRED AGIUS [SMTP:] > Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 1997 11:38 AM > To: > Subject: Attention Deficit Disorder > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > This message is from PedTalk!
