Pollock, MD This mother tried to omit dairy products from her diet, but after 3 weeks she "fell off the wagon" so to speak and had 2 bowls of cheese soup for dinner one night. She didn't think twice about it until her daughter had more blood in her stool the next day. I'm all for continuing exclusively with breastfeeding but thought if the mother was having trouble remembering, maybe cutting back on her breastfeeding would allow her to get away with a few indiscretions now and then and the baby would continue to reap SOME benefit from breastfeeding.
