Until two yrs. ago when the state of Texas mandated that the second MMR be given at pre-K entrance I had been giving the vaccine at age 11 with the rationale that this was the immune response would be nicely boosted throughout high school and college- I really hated to change my ways- especially to add a second shot to the tearful four year old group. Then around 6 months ago (might be longer- time flies when you're having fun) I read an article somewhere (?Pediatrics maybe) that showed that there are side effects in children who get the MMR booster at age 4-6 than at age 11-12. It made me feel a little better about having to change. Does anybody remember that article.
