An LPN friend of mine had to "walk" the doc she was > working with thru giving her own flu shot. We were trained to give shots during residency, but didn't do it much. The other office that I work in part-time, the docs also give the shots. I have to say, I REALLY didn't like it at first. Since I've been working in this office for less than 4 months, I'm waiting to see if the kids start associating me with giving shots and become more difficult to examine as a result. I don't mind giving the shots now (actually, I guess I don't mind the crying and such), I'm just worried about the child's attitude towards me in the future. Am I encouraging the development of the kid who screams and carries on the instant they get into the exam room? (You all know the type, I'm sure...). Eve H. Switzer, M.D.
