I think it might not be laziness, but inexperience. Often the night nurses are the new grads, waiting for an opening on day shift. (I remember those days on the peds floor, trying not to fall asleep while I was taking an apical pulse!) Plus anymore, it may not be nurses taking care of the babies. Though they might call themselves nurses, in acutality they could be "pt care techs" or whatever they are called now. Maureen CPNP
