Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine

I remember now there was one other organization that I was going to
mention. Physicians who are licensed to practice medicine throughout the
world are eligible to become members of The Academy of Breastfeeding
Medicine. Address is P.O. box 15945-284, Lenexa, KS 66285-5945 email
.

It has a great newletter (ABM News & Views) that provides info on the
newest research (with references of course). What's especially refreshing
is that there's quite a bit of cultural diversity in it - Vol 4 #2 has an
article about promoting Breastfeeding in China and about the Talmud and
Breastfeeding. Did you know Breastmilk is considered Kosher and
categorized as pareve (neither dairy or meat)? -- I didn't until reading
that issue.

The past board of directors included 3 OB's, 4 Neonatologists, 2 Family Med
Docs, 3 Pediatricians and one Doctor of Preventative Medicine. A nice mix.
The annual meeting is in October. Next year's location is someplace
warm... I'll post it when I run across it again.
